“Our task as His people is to discern what God is doing and join with Him. It’s not so much that the church has a mission, but that God’s mission has a church.” - Alan Hirsch

These words from Alan Hirsch seem obvious don’t they, but if we really start to look at the way we gather together as communities of faith, it doesn’t take long to discover that, often times, we live church centered verses God’s mission centered. However, Jesus commissioned US to fulfill HIS mission on the earth! He promised us that His mission wouldn’t be fulfilled except through Christ in us, the Hope of Glory, being released in and through every son and daughter of God.

What would it look like for the Church to fulfill God’s mission on the earth, in our cities, in our spheres of influence, in our families, & in our relationships?

How do we, as the church, shift our structures & our ecclesiology to flow out of God’s mission rather than fitting our mission to the way we “do church”? What would it look like if we as the church of Albany made this shift together?

Furthermore, what would the impact of this shift be to the community we live in???

Isaiah 58 speaks of the state of the nation of Israel and calls the people of God back to the true fast that we are all called to as believers. The fast is to reach out to the lost, the oppressed, the hungry, the homeless, the naked, (and there are people in this condition everywhere! It’s a state of the heart.) As we are awakened and respond to this call, the Lord gives a promised result to our response, He says, “Then your light will break forth like the dawn… those from among you will build the old waste places, you shall raise up the foundation of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Break, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell in.” This is what our cities need. This is the mission that God has called us into.

Activate 58, with speaker Hugh Halter, will be a time of challenging, activating and commissioning every believer into this true fast! It’s time for the Body of Christ, every son & daughter to be fully awake and walking in beautiful partnership with Holy Spirit to see His kingdom come and His will be done right here on earth as it is in heaven.
